Privacy Policy

This notice explains how SME Sorted collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you visit the website or make an enquiry.

Last updated: 6 October 2026

Who is responsible for your information

SME Sorted is responsible for the personal information described in this notice. SME Sorted is based in Plymouth, Devon, United Kingdom. You can contact SME Sorted about privacy using the website enquiry form.

Information we collect

We may collect:

  • your name and business name;
  • your email address and any telephone number you provide;
  • details about the services you want reviewed;
  • messages, correspondence and records of our discussions;
  • information needed to arrange an introduction to a provider;
  • business-verification or proof-of-address documents where they are required for a requested telephone-number onboarding;
  • limited technical information about visits to the website, including cookie and analytics data where you have consented.

How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • respond to enquiries and discuss your requirements;
  • review the business services you ask about;
  • arrange introductions that you request;
  • support provider verification and number provisioning that you request;
  • manage follow-up communications and business records;
  • understand and improve the website; and
  • meet legal, regulatory and accounting obligations.

Our lawful bases

Depending on the circumstances, we process information because it is necessary to take steps at your request before you enter a contract, because SME Sorted or a third party has a legitimate interest in responding to and managing a business enquiry, because we must meet a legal obligation, or because you have given consent. You may withdraw consent at any time where consent is the basis used.

Who we share information with

Information is only shared with a relevant third-party provider when it is needed for an introduction and with your knowledge. We may share business-verification documents with the relevant provider where they are required for the onboarding you request. We may also share information with service suppliers that help us run the website and manage enquiries, and with professional advisers, regulators or public authorities where required. SME Sorted does not sell personal information.

The enquiry form and customer records are provided through HubSpot. You can read the HubSpot Privacy Policy.

Service-area map

The Service Area page includes an embedded Google My Maps map that loads automatically as you approach that section of the page. When it loads, your browser connects to Google, which receives information such as your IP address and may use cookies under its own policies. The map loads independently of your analytics consent choice. You can also open the map directly on Google.

See Google’s Privacy Policy for details.

Cookies and website analytics

Essential technologies support the website and enquiry form. We store your analytics cookie choice in your browser for 180 days. This preference does not track you and can be changed using the Cookie settings button on any page.

Google Analytics 4 and optional HubSpot analytics load only after you select Accept analytics. If you reject analytics or have not chosen, neither analytics loader runs. You can still browse the website and make an enquiry.

With consent, Google Analytics helps us understand pages visited, traffic sources, device and browser information, and interactions such as review-button clicks and successful enquiries. We do not deliberately send names, email addresses, telephone numbers, referral partner names or enquiry text to Google Analytics. Advertising consent remains denied and Google signals and advertising personalisation are disabled in the website tag.

Google Analytics uses first-party cookies named _ga and _ga_4KMDCJSE28 to distinguish visitors and sessions. We configure these to expire after 400 days, subject to shorter browser limits. HubSpot analytics may use hubspotutk (up to six months), __hstc (up to six months), __hssc (30 minutes) and __hssrc (the browser session).

Reject analytics in Cookie settings to withdraw consent. This stops future analytics collection, removes accessible analytics cookies and reloads the page to unload analytics scripts. It does not erase information already collected. Our lawful basis for optional analytics is your consent.

Google and HubSpot process analytics data on our behalf and may process it outside the UK, including in the United States. For more information, see Google’s Privacy Policy, how Google uses information from partner sites and HubSpot’s Privacy Policy. We do not use this website for third-party advertising.

How long we keep information

We keep information only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the enquiry, requested introduction, ongoing business relationship and any applicable legal, regulatory, tax or accounting requirements. Retention is reviewed and information is deleted or anonymised when it is no longer required.

International data transfers

Some service suppliers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards required by UK data-protection law.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct or erase your information; restrict or object to its use; receive a portable copy; and withdraw consent. These rights are not absolute and may be limited where information must be retained for a lawful reason.

To make a request, use the SME Sorted enquiry form. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Changes to this notice

This notice may be updated when the website, services or use of personal information changes. The latest version will always be published on this page.
